Paper Pile ; 144” x 192” x 240”; Recycled Shredded Paper; April 2007 The Paper Pile was created from a month's collection of shredded paper given by the University of Illinois Chicago Recycling center. All was recycled afterwards. The gentle growing mound of paper is a symbol of growth, a metaphoric time capsule always growing, growing higher through consumption and collection on a daily basis. This was one of five sculptural responses the notion of “sustainability.”
