AMANDA BROWDER - Born in Montana lives in Brooklyn, NY
Instagram: @ browdertown

Browder’s projects are additive and subtractive experiences which aim to collaboratively build sculpture with the parallel uniqueness of what is “collaborative.” The artist aims to engage local citizens - wherever the project is taking place - with the conceptual approach of gathering and collecting as a community praxis. The works seek to physically challenge the uniqueness of the individual as represented in a color field of fabric donations sewn into a mono-chromatic conversation. Central to the psychedelic experience, Browder uses bright colors and familiar materials to recreate this subtle change in perception. The overarching goal is to involve individuals and groups in the mystery of creation. Volunteerism of local citizens and artists is a segway to creating familiarity in contemporary art as well as the individual nature of the neighborhood itself. From material collection to construction and exhibition, these projects aim to encourage community volunteers to participate in ways that require collaboration and conversation…conversation about city, community, architecture and art.

INFORMATION: Help build art installation for the Bruges Triennial 2021
The American artist Amanda Browder is one of the twelve invited artists who will exhibit from May 8 to September 26 during the Bruges Triennial 2021. Together with the residents of Bruges, she wants to create a large textile installation in the heart of the city. Therefore a warm appeal to donate leftovers in one of the collection boxes that will be scattered throughout the city. From 23 September you will find collection boxes in the Bruges libraries, at In & Uit or in the Huis van de Bruggeling.

"Metropolis Sunrise - ARTSWESTCHESTER > PRESS introduction! PARTICIPATION INFORMATION " The playful artwork will be a colorful, quilt-like textile that will adorn ArtsWestchester’s nine-story landmarked building on Mamaroneck Avenue. Browder will design and fabricate the artwork working with ArtsWestchester to organize fabric drives, public sewing days and block parties throughout Westchester and Rockland counties. “This project is just so exciting and will do so much to advance the Hudson Valley’s ‘Live, Work, Play’ philosophy,” said Janet T. Langsam, CEO of ArtsWestchester. “Visitors will be drawn to White Plains from near and far, creating an arts happening and instilling pride among the hundreds of community volunteers who will have a hand in the project’s making.” She continues, “Public art has the remarkable ability to enliven downtowns and infuse the extraordinary into everyday life. We are over the moon and thank the Mid-Hudson REDC for recognizing the importance of public art.”
